Multiculturalism: BIPOC
Dear colleagues,
I recognize that issues of racism, inequity, biases and prejudices are topics which are uneasy, at best, to discuss. Having this conversation, however uneasy, is a necessity toward moving forward and growing as a practitioner in the field. None of the following information is meant to shame anybody of any background but it is meant as a resource for diverse information and cultural sensitivity and awareness. We must always strive to respect one another and part of that comes with being educated regarding our fellow human beings and having cultural sensitivity when working with diverse people groups. One step toward that aim is analyzing our biases, prejudices and lack of knowledge. My hope in sharing this information is that it will bring awareness, advocacy, respect, equity, competency and empathy to our work.
